Default Wtb:70-72 Lt-1

WTB '70, '71, or '72 LT-1 that is mostly original with #matching engine. Would like to be under 30k, in that price range hoping to find something that needs paint or other cosmetics but good mechanical condition.

Good luck. I was after one too. Now that I have bought something else there is one on ebay right now matching your description. Check it out. Search for 1971 corvette and it will show up - in Chicagoland. If I were still looking I would check it closely.

You are going to have a tough time finding a real 70 in your price range, but you never know. You should be able to find a 71 or a 72 (without A/C) in your range, but it will likely need a lot of work (my experience). IE: Paint, mechanicals, interior....but you can find one.

Do the do diligence to confirm your looking at a real LT-1 before buying, there are plenty of tips on this board on what to look for and a number of us who can help. Good luck with your search!

Here's the 71 GCCH mentioned on ebay in your range:

Here's a 72:

St. Jude Donor '06

Default Lt-1

Why is the ontario orange one above my post such a great deal? Is this color less desirable or is it the time of the year. 28,000 miles. Looks awesome. I would buy it but it might cause a divorce so I think I'll have to take a pass though it's very tempting.

That green car on e-bay has the placard near the shift say 330 horsepower. Can someone enlighten me, I thought it was 350 hp in '71.
Just checking, not picking.
Thanks, Mark

Thanks for the leads guys. I agree a '70 is probably not realistic in that price range...i sort of expected a '71 or '72 but didn't want to limit myself in my search. That orange one looks like a good deal, no offense to orange vette owners but that wouldn't be my first choice in color. I missed out big time on a local one....

370 gross hp in 1970, 330 gross hp in 1971, 255 net hp in 1972.

Not sure if you're a Sunflower Yellow fan. I used to own the '71 that's going to be for sale in this thread:

That one could not have been true at that price. There's a guy in your area with a 70 for sale. Search Craigslist. It's a green one with saddle interior, Canadian documentation. NOM, but a very ice looking car. Here's his number: Asking $33500 US. Call 1781-246-5015

This is just my opinion--but you are not going to find a 1970-72 LT-1 for under $30K unless it needs work or is missing something. You say what could it be missing: AIR smog system--if you care about this and want it to be 100% original; TI ignition system; original carb, starter, alternator, ignition shielding, etc. Good paint job $9-12K. Interior--just replaced mine and did all the work myself and still cost over $500 (only replaced carpet). If you have to go out and buy these parts--$$$$$$$. For example my LT-1 had part of the TI system missing. Pulse amplification box with new circuit board and exchange around $600, TI wiring harness $125, TI coil #272 $150, rebuild your TI distributor--assuming you have one $1100--well you get the picture. I my opinion you get what you pay for--buy one that has most systems already present--cheaper than buying it part by part.

That page on his website shows it was last edited in June 2006- -look at the bottom of the page. If that is correct, this is not a recent sale and not reflective of the price increases in the past year for LT-1s, particularly '70 convertibles.

Not sure what you mean by "real deal"?
I have that car in my registry. It came out of MA. Original color was bronze. So, you have a color change, a replacement engine and who knows what else?

The '71 went last night on e-bay for $18,000. I hope someone here got it. Item # 190184514960.
I thought it was cheap.
