Default Questions about 1969 on Ebay

Has anyone ever dealt with these guys? This seems like a nicely restored 69. I am a fan of this engine/trans combo. Thanks.

Probably not 19k real miles. Looks like a nice repaint in the picture, but too much black-out under the hood for things that typically aren't black. All the smog stuff on the engine is missing which is not unusual.

The car also has manual brakes. I have 'em, but they take some getting used to. No AC so it may have manual steering too to complete the low option profile.

If the frame is good and the paint and interior are in as good a shape as the pictures show, maybe a $25k car that you wouldn't be afraid to be seen in. Convertible, red color and original motor are all plusses for it.

I called Daniel Schmitt & Co. regarding this car last week. Unfortunately, the dealer I spoke w/ didn't know that much about the car. No history...

The car is manual steering, manual brakes (no frills here). I spewed off about 10 items that were not original about the car and it didn't really matter to him. He just wanted to make the sale...

From the pics, this is a ~$25K car, assuming everthing is as stated.

The one good thing is that thier feedback is almost 100%. Almost 400 satisfied customers on eBay . I guess if you're willing to pay very high dealer premium, could be okay car.

I am familiar with them. Their core knowledge is european and exotics not corvettes. I think there are alot of other 69's out there at that price

The missing trim tag caught my attention.

They may specialize in other makes, but their Corvette ads are very carefully worded... truthful, but the knowlegable buyer needs to look at the details and ask the right questions... on all their Corvette listings. They know more about Corvettes than you might think.

Looking for a nice 69 SB convertible? My friend has a very nice , more complete orange/black one than this red one in Ala and it wont cost anywhere near 30k, IM for info
Indeed! The devil is in the details once you start looking seriously at cars at $30K and up, and the closer you look at this one the worse it gets. I would expect you could find something much more satisfying for less with some patience.

I have concerns on this company when the put 'vettes up for sale. Awhile back they listed a low mileage '68 for sale. Not only did it have the wrong rear valance, it also had '69 front fender script, an aftermarket sound system, and NOM. And that was from the pictures in the ad. The car was shiny, and that was about it. Far from being a low mileage car. It looked like someone painted it, put armorall on the interior & tires to make it look sell-able.I have seen other vettes they have listed that had similar issues as the one I described. I would be very careful if you were considering buying a car from them. Have it inspected first. Good luck

To add on to Ed T's observations:

Missing the ignition sheilding

Missing the headlight covers behind the front grill

Has a '68 steering wheel.

Wrong shifter.

Not sure whats going on with the fuel line to the carb, but it should be replaced. Rubber fuel lines to the carb = bad news.

Based on the pics, it looks like the car had a front clip repaired or replaced as all the front end stuff is either missing or incorrect for the most part.

IMHO, this is nothing more then a polished turd at a very high price.

Save your money and get a great car for the same price somewhere else. Take up Ed T's offer on the orange/black car. Might be happier in the end. Good luck!

I still think the missing trim tag is the scariest thing, especially when the ad makes specific reference to the paint color matching the tag!!

I agree...it says in big print that the color matches the trim tag and below there's a pictures showing the car doesn't have the trim tag. Maybe they give you the trim tag in a brown paper bag when you buy the car
