Car is located in San Bruno, CA

I purchased my Vette many years ago with the express desire to build a brutal and attractive car, and I believe I've succeeded. I've spared absolutely no expense on anything I've done, which includes the engine, transmission, suspension, and everything in between.
Yes, I know there are many people who believe I should have returned the car to concourse condition (that just doesn't hold any interest to me), but for those interested in doing so this sale includes loads of "extra" factory original parts.

My Vette has less than 500 miles on it since completion, but due to the downturn in the economy I'm forced to sell it.

This listing contains 2 lists, both of which are of great value:
1. A list of everything I've put into the car to bring it to the point it is today. Along with each item I've listed where I purchased it and the cost at the time of purchase. If you read the list carefully you'll find virtually EVERY detail about the engine, transmission, suspension, and interior. A close look at this list will tell you virtually everything you'll want to know about what makes my Vette so special.
2. A list of "Extras". I have a great number of original factory parts and whoever wins this auction is responsible for shipment of ALL "extra" parts listed as well as the car itself. I cannot hold or ship anything separate, so please do not purchase if you're not in a position to take everything at one time. Any parts left at the time of vehicle pick-up will be considered abandoned and I will sell them on my own.

This Cortez Silver car with deluxe black leather interior is a numbers matching 1970 LT-1, though when I purchased it the original engine was on a pallet and had been blown up. When I decided to build the car I wanted something different, with lots of power but retaining the overall stock look of a '70 Vette.

I decided to build a 388 cubic inch small block (utilizing the original block bored .040 over with a 3.75" stroke) and utilize Accel Gen VII Digital Fuel Injection, giving the appearance of an old-school injected engine with the reliability and ease of modern EFI. Since the car has the original 4:10 gearing I knew I'd have to do something so I decided to install a Tremec TKO-600 from Keisler Engineering. This trans, along with the hydraulic throw-out bearing are wonderful, allowing the car to comfortably cruise at 70mph while only turning 2000 or so RPM.

Not all of my time went into the engine and transmission: if you look through the list of parts you'll see I spent a considerable amount of time on the suspension as well, including a custom adjustable rear anti-roll bar (allows for much wider tires and rims), adjustable coil-over front shocks, and much more.
Knowing I wanted the car to look as good as it ran and rides I spent a considerable amount of time refurbishing the interior, with almost every piece having been redone with first rate replacement pieces.

This car is not perfect; like many older Vettes there are some minor hairline cracks in the paint along the tops of the fenders, but they are absolutely minimal. This car is in such good shape even the drip rails (around the engine compartment) are 100% intact and original!

Were any upgrades made to the brakes? I'm not seeing anything on the list. Also, where do you get your HP numbers?

PS: the link you gave ( http://www.protopline.com/123460020a.htm ) doest work.

No, the brakes were next on the list but under the circumstances I had to stop, so they're all stock.

The HP figures were garnered from a chassis dyno in San Jose, CA. When the engine was initially completed I took it to the dyno to fire the engine off for the first time, thus allowing my computer tech to begin the adjusting of the CPU.
When the car was first fired off we had 3 issues which limited our ability to fine tune the car:
1) Lack of a good vacuum signal to the MAP sensor. This was finally alleviated by the addition of the vacuum "doghouse" you see under the intake manifold in the second to last picture.
2) Lack of ring seal. With the trouble we were having with the vacuum/MAP it was difficult for us to run the engine long enough to build heat and get the rings to seal.
3) Combine numbers 1 and 2 and it was next to impossible to adjust and fine tune the CPU so the dyno pulls were made with the base setting obtained from Mike Hartsell at Accel (He's AMAZING, btw).

On this initial dyno run, even with the 3 problems listed above we were able to pull over 470hp at the rear wheels, which estimates out to around 550 at the crank. I can confidently say that now with the rings seated, the vacuum situation rectified, and the CPU fine-tuned the engine is pulling over 600hp.

ProTopline was bought out by Racing Head Service (RHS), but I believe they still offer a head with the same characteristics, so if you contact them and give them the specs they should be able to match up their current offering.

Hope that's answered your questions,

Bob

Do you have the original hood? What is the condition of the original block?

I'm a local guy.

Hey Pantera:
The original hood is in PERFECT condition, hanging in my garage where it stays safe and out of harms way.
The original, numbers matching block is what's in the car, so it's in perfect condition. It's had every imaginable machine process done to it to ensure it's true and accurate, as well as having been bored .040 over.
When I purchased the car the original short-block was on a pallet and had a couple of destroyed pistons. It appears the previous owner tried to run it with too much timing and insufficient octane. As noted in the sale listing I still have the original rods, crank, damper, and destroyed pistons, as well as the trans, shifter, hood, etc.

Hey Wolf: that is pretty cool, what model and features are on your car? BTW - I don't know if "Wolf" has anything to do with your name but if it does we have more in common: it's my last name.

Thanks for the inquiries and thoughts.

Does the block still show the engine pad codes?

The deck was blocked but the numbers are still somewhat visible.
I checked them prior to machine work and this is the original numbers matching block. Sorry I don't have a picture of the pad but I didn't consider it when building the engine and now that it's complete it's hidden under the Moroso Vacuum Pump, etc.

Hopefully the block was decked.

The text of your ad says "whoever wins this auction." Does that mean this is on ebay or elsewhere?

LOL! Maybe I need to be decked, but you're absolutely correct: the block was decked to ensure the pistons are at 0 deck height.

The car is on eBay but the rules of the forum make it clear you can't advertise that point. I thought I'd taken out all references, sorry.

That's sweet, and two LT-1's manufactured so closely together.

I've decided to re-list my car with a revised sale price of $25K.

I've updated the car a bit so it now has a FAST 1350cfm throttle body in place of the Hilborn's (MUCH more driveable) and added billet aluminum hood latches, but otherwise the car is the same with only another 50 miles or so.

Thanks,

Bob
