Selling my #'s matching 1974 L-82 Convertible
MY OLD 74 L-82 Convertible is forsale again, $24,900
Here's my description, no more than 100 miles has been added since I sold it to the current owner in August, I wish I had the room I'd buy it back, in a heartbeat.
The car spent from 1974 to 1998 in Texas with the original owner, and then was purchased by the previous owner and remained in his care until I purchased it (that makes me owner # 3). Repainted in 2000 in its original and somewhat rare Corvette Medium Blue, base coat / clear coat (many clear coats), she looks great. There are not too many nice, #'s matching C3 L-82 roadsters left out there under $25k. The car has always been maintained and is very well preserved; it has always been garaged and covered. The previous owner told me that this car hasn’t seen rain since 1985, obviously I can’t verify this – but it hasn’t seen any under my watch.
The car still retains its original “born with” #’s matching drive train. The L-82 350 was rated at only 20hp less than the 454 big block offered that year. Keep in mind that 1974 was the last year for true dual exhausts, there are no cats on this car. It still has a points distributor ignition setup and runs on REGULAR gas (hardened seats have since been installed to handle the unleaded gas of today). All the emission laws hit in 1975, so this is a great performing car. It's also the first year for both rubber bumpers. This engine provides great performance and doesn't have the cooling problems often found on the big-block cars. It's a nice balanced, well handling package. The original Turbo400 auto transmission shifts great, these are known for legendary performance and reliability. The odometer is showing 96k miles with 11k on a factory spec rebuild of the engine and transmission (all engine stampings are visible). The cooling system, vacuum system, AC, windshield wiper motor, brakes, alternator, power steering system and brakes have all been rebuilt and work perfectly. It has a new correct, black soft-top. The lights go up nice and all electrical systems and gauges are operable (except the clock). Options include power steering & power brakes. This is an original RADIO DELETE car (no antenna) which according to Corvette experts makes this car extremely rare (L82/ragtop). Its original black leather interior is in very nice shape, no cracks, rips, seam splits anywhere, the dash and door panels look very nice. The carpet being original has a bit of fade to it but other than that it’s in great shape. There are ZERO leaks in this car, (I mean NOTHING LEAKS!!), the doors shut well and the manual windows operate swiftly and with ease. Weather stripping is in good shape, the jack and spare are complete, the Good-Year Eagle tires are in nice shape (now out of production), the original rally wheels and stainless trim rings are in good shape (driver quality). This particular Corvette is a very straight, no-hit car; the paint is in great shape. All in all she is a very nice running and driving Corvette with the right adult owner history. She hasn't been messed with over the years, and is only used as a third car for enjoyment only – weather permitting. I have the title in my possession, she’s ready to go. If you have any questions please call me, I have dozens of pics that I can send – Dave (617) 513-7407

....outstanding!!! If that'd been a 4spd, A/C delete car it'd be in my garage by now.

Thanks Paul - I hear ya, that was my search criteria as well, but the AC was very nice as my wife and I were sitting in the 4th of July parade in about 95 degree heat... top down, AC blaring... I was looking for a 4spd Blue L82 drop-top for a long time until I saw this car... amazing how much junk is out there...

Thanks - if I had the room I'd keep it, my wife and I took it down to the Cape this week-end, 340 miles - trouble free, she's a good car...

The new owner installed the Truflex (74 split) bumper, did all the paint & body work perfectly and has thrown in a Black vinyl Hardtop - he wants to sell it to make room for a new addition. So my old 74 L82 drop top is forsale again.... new price >> $24,900
