F/S: Yellow 1979
Greetings -- We’re the 2nd owners of this 1979 – we’ve owned it since 1986. After 25+ years we’ve decided it’s time for someone else to enjoy him…
See additional photos at: http://photobucket.com/79CorvetteForSale
Current mileage is ~ 91.2K miles. It rides and drives great, and attracts attention wherever it goes.
It has the original engine (L-48) and transmission (TH350). Major factory options are A/C, pace-car spoilers, glass T-Tops, and aluminum wheels. The build date code is K29. It has been garage-kept and I have all records since we purchased it.
Bodywork-wise, has had some minor dings and repairs done over the years, but in 1997 it received a complte repaint in the original yellow (code 52L) with DuPont ChromaOne. 15 years later, the paint is still a strong 90%+.
The tan leather interior (code 592) is all original except for the seat covers & seat foam, which were replaced ~ 1991. It needs front carpet, and has a few cracks in the dash. It has an aftermarket AM/FM/CD player. All gauges (except the infamous clock) work, and there are no problems with the horn or headlights (things usually not working very well on this vintage…)
Mechanically, all of the running gear runs strong. The engine top-end was gone through in Aug 2004 (86.3K) for a flat cam lobe – the heads were machined and rebuilt with bronze valve guides, and a new cam, lifters, and roller-tip rocker arms were installed. All gaskets & vacuum hoses were also replaced, and an aluminum (DeWitts) radiator and electric fans were also installed at the same time.
The TH350 transmission is original, and was rebuilt in Jan 1995 (73.6K).
Purchased in TX, it moved to CA and now NC with us… it has never been driven in winter and shows only minor surface rust to the frame and radiator surround.
Other mechanical mentionables:
• Engine codes: V0618ZAH // 19S441746
• SS-lined brake calipers and park brake hardware
• Front & Rear Suspension have been overhauled over the years… bushings, ball joints, front springs, rear composite leaf spring, steering wear parts, etc.
• Replacement heater core (Sept 1996 / 76.3kmiles)
• Typical replacements / maintenance over the years… power steering system, water pump, etc.
• All new weather-stripping during repaint (1997)
• Newer rear exhaust Y-pipe, newer ‘Monza’ mufflers
• Goodyear Wingfoot HP P245/60R15 tires on OEM ALU wheels
Non-stock Modifications:
• Aluminum radiator (DeWitts) with electric fans
• AM/FM/CD stereo + upgraded replacement speakers
• 12SI alternator (66Amp) installed in place of stock 10SI (37A) when installed elec fans
• ‘Monza’ mufflers
• 80-81-style tail lamps
Not working at the moment…
• Factory A/C (but all the pieces are there…)
• Cruise Control (missing the vacuum actuator, and has never worked for us…)
• Rear window defogger partially working (a few traces in the rear window are broken)
• Alarm system (disabled / disconnected in the driver’s door -- could be restored)
• In-dash clock (…typical)
• no ignition shielding
Asking $9,900 - reasonable offers considered but not interested in trades at this point.
Located in Greensboro, NC. PM if any questions or for any additional photos.

Very nice looking, love the yellow. It must be hard to part with it
after all the years of ownership. I have owned by 96 Collector for
10 years and couldn't imagine selling it.
Best of luck to you.

ttt.....
And would welcome feedback from anyone who has looked at / considered the listing... I don't sell many cars.
What's the general feeling about asking price, condition description, etc ?
We've had a few nibbles but nothing that has approached anything serious. We're in no hurry to sell, but I was expectinjg a little more activity here and with some of the other online ads.
Thanks for your time,

Pancho I think your price is inline. Your ad was well written and informative. If you where closer to me I would be interested.
Someone will get a nice Vette when they buy yours.

I would suggest more pics; the chasis and under the hood would be nice to see. You say the AC is not working, do you know what is wrong with it?
I think the car looks nice, and I think your price is reasonable. I think this car is just a slow mover in this economic environment. If you don't have to sell, I would counsel patience as it's a nice car and someone will want it. Heck, if I was closer, I would think about looking at it.

Thanks PKguitar --
There are more pics in the photobucket link... let me know if you are not able to access that, or if you think still more would be helpful.
A/C-wise, all the parts are there and the compressor is free to turn... last time it was run was was probably 20 years ago -- when it stopped cooling I never really worried about it since we were living in N.California at the time, A/C was not really needed. It was always a 'someday' project. If I were to do it now, I would plan for rebuilding all major components to do it right, in addition to an R134 conversion.
I agree on the slow economy, and we aren't in a big hurry to sell (... which lasts right up until we are in a big hurry )

a beauty Corvette, a great ad & a fair price...
most here already have a C3
looks like you have taken care of him, over the years
for the last 7 years my 80 , has been my DD from Nov-April , after i put the bikes away.
many people are amazed & seem to wish they too could own a C3 - i tell them for about 10 grand they could have 1 of their own - most of my buds will spend half that on a winter vacation anyway...
maybe the Spring will bring out a few more offers
Pete.
