1969 427/400 L68 For Sale
1969 Corvette 427/400 L68
I still have this car and will put putting it up for sale again when the weather breaks in Cleveland.
I am putting up for sale my 1969 427/400 L68 coupe. I am going to use the description from the previous owner who had the car about ten years as I believe he described the car well.
Rare 427 tri-power car. 400 HP/4 speed. Lemans blue with bright blue interior. Sold 2/14/69 from Ferris Chevrolet in New Philadelphia, OH. Have the original protectoplate, wheel trim ring sheet, AM/FM instructions, ignition lock/starting instructions and owners manual.
Most of the history is known. I believe I am the sixth owner.
Tank sticker is visible and still on the tank. I did buy a borescope and tried to get images as you will see but it wasn’t that great. I couldn’t tell if it was dust on top or if the tank sticker is damaged.
Very original car except for the paint, it has been repainted once. The paint is show quality. There is one very small blemish above the passenger headlight. It never bothered me.
Car has what seems to be the original spare, most of the interior, seat belts, A.I.R. t-top bags and hold downs.
Dated receipts from Midas (1986 and 1990) from what appears to be the second owner stating mileage and engine size.
Every dated part on the car seems correct for its build date except clutch fan (1970), water pump (have the original in a box) and master cylinder. Even hose clamps are dated correct. There are some original chalk marks behind the rear valance near the license plate showing a date.
Engine and trans match vin. Rear end matches Protecto plate. I did use the Guidebook to verify a bunch of numbers prior to purchasing.
AM/FM radio, clock works (not all the time now that I have taken ownership), vacuum wipers and headlights work. All fiber optics work except right rear (I cleaned the end of the fiber in the tail lamp and that didn’t fix it). All gauges work, original shifter and boot. All carbs match date code although the center carb was changed to repro Holly. I have the original carb in a box. Flash chrome on engine and air cleaner very good. I have the original wheel trim rings also.
Underneath the car is un-restored and original. The previous owner stated it was never touched. Frame is rust free.
Mechanically the car is perfect and sorted out. Stainless brakes, runs perfect, choke works well, shifts well, rides good with no rattles and tracks well.
This is an exceptional original car that is well preserved.
May consider a 1969 Camaro in trade up or down. I still have the Hugger Orange Z below but am looking for another.
The car is located just outside of Cleveland. Price is $56,000. Dave 216-695-2380.

That does look correct based on the picture. I want to make sure I am representing the car properly and that picture was taken the day I purchased the car so if anyone else would like to verify that would be great.

[QUOTE=Faster Rat;1591965457]The numbers on the rear end do not match the VIN. None of them were ever stamped with the VIN derivative. They do, however, appear to be correct.
Just for clarification, the previous owner and I just stated this improperly, meaning no rear end on any 69 can match the vin as the vin was never stamped on any of them but it appears to be the correct rear end?
Thanks for the help. I have decent knowledge about corvettes but I'm by no means an expert so I appreciate help like this.

The stamping in your photo only identifies the rear end as being a 3.36 ratio built on 1-20-69 and if the W was showing, in the Warren plant. Your car was built in early February, which places it nicely into the schedule. Without a serial number though, it is not tied to the car in any way other than simply being correct.

Most of the pics are from the day I bought the car when I was going through it, that's why some of the images are so dark. The previous owner had a building with a number of different cars. I don't really remember all of what was in there.

Beautiful car, and really nice condition.
I do have a question. Has this car even gone through NCRS to Bloomington judging process? If so, how did it score and what were the deductions?
Thanks again, and good luck with the sale.
This car is calling my name, color, engine trans combo, everything.
