1972 LS-5 Ontario Orange 454ci Stingray Convertible, One Owner
1972 LS-5 Ontario Orange Stingray convertible with Saddle Leather interior with it's original 454ci V-8 engine. The factory equipped 4 Speed Manual transmission, 4 barrel carburetor, power steering, power brakes, AM/FM stereo radio and clock are all original. (the clock is the only thing that doesn't work). The paint is 100% original. This Corvette had a frame up, body off restoration using original Corvette Factory parts in 1999. The interior and the engine were refurbished at that time as well as the electrical system, belts, hoses, etc. I purchased this car new in October of 1971 and have the original invoice, original brochures, original gas tank sticker, original owners manual...a true numbers matching corvette. 89,000 miles (15,000 miles since the restoration). Garage stored in Northwest Iowa and pampered her entire life. $39,950

How many original owner 72 454 convertibles can there still be? Good luck with the sale, it shouldn't last long.

The body was off and the restoration was frame up. The paint was/is in excellent condition so the body was not touched. What you see in the pictures paint wise is what came from the factory in 1971.

Sorry about the pictures of the interior. When I loaded them up they were fine but when I hit the submit button they got rotated somehow. I don't know how to fix that. I'll ask the mods to help.

clarification
I had a question regarding the frame. When we did the body off restoration the original frame had rusted somewhat (Minnesota winters are not kind) so we chose to have a new frame at that time. So while the body, motor and rest of the car have matching numbers the frame does not.

Thanks Billman. I've had several serious inquiries although no offers. The main problem so far has been replacing the rusted frame during the 1999 restoration. Even though the rest of the car is original "numbers matching" (see definition on corvette forum numbers matching discussion) the new frame seemed critical.

Many thanks ddawson. Should be easy to find out what the deduction is. Great idea.

I called National Corvette Restoration Society (NCRS) and asked about the new vs the original frame. Published on the NCRS website the frame maximum points on originality are 10 points out of a total of 110 points for frame and undercarriage. Doesn't sound like too big of a deal.
