Default F/S 1972 Corvette 40k miles

1972 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, numbers matching, last year of the front and rear chrome bumpers. It has the 350 small block (4 barrel quadrajet carb) with automatic 400 Turbo transmission. All electronics work except for the windshield wipers. The vent blower motor works intermittently. All gauges work as they should except for the clock. The vacuum system all works great, the headlight doors open and close with no issues and so does the windshield wipers door. No issues with the headlights, running lights or blinkers, all work. Only driven on nights and weekends and never driven in rain. Always garage kept. Has factory A/C, but it has been disabled. Power steering and power windows all work. I have owned this car for almost 5 years, I bought it from friends of our family, they owned it for almost 20 years. This car is ready to drive now, its not a project car. I would rate the paint job an 8 out of 10, there are a few flaws, but very hard to see. I get plenty of compliments every time I take it out. Red is NOT the original color, the original color was Ontario Orange. Selling for $18,900

Sorry, I thought my profile would tell the location of the car (newbie here). The car is located in Birmingham Alabama. In regards to the AC and heat, the heat blows hot when the blower motor works. I'm not sure what is wrong with the AC. The line is still pressurized and the compressor spins freely, so I might have someone take a look at it. I only drive it on nice days and I usually have the windows down, so I've never concerned myself with the heating and air. It has been this way since i purchased the car almost 5 years ago.

Thanks for the answers and thanks for installing your city/state in the avatar section... wish everyone would do that

Do you know if it has the original drive train in it? I don't think that size (400 turbo transmission) was in those cars back in 72 but i don't claim to know much about the older C3's models.

thank you again

You're welcome! Looking back I failed to put my location in my profile, so that's why it didn't show up when I originally posted. The transmission is the original transmission and I was told it is the TH400. A senior member on this forum posted this information about the TH400 versus TH350:

68-76E TH400,76L-81 TH350

I had a heck of a time finding anything on the internet, but I certainly don't want to misrepresent anything, so I will keep digging, but the info above was all I found so far. I'll update the thread if I come across something else, please do the same if you come across something as well.

Thank you!

You are correct, i did some research and found out the TH400 was an option .. so your good on that.

thanks, i believe it would help any of us interested that live far from you for you to make a complete video of the car and you can post the video on youtube.com and then post the link to the youtube video here... just a suggestion

In the past i have sold all my cars quicker with videos.

Thank you for confirming as well, I was pretty confident it had the TH400 transmission. I think you are absolutely correct about the video. I will plan on doing one as soon as it stops raining here in Alabama, it has rained for like a week straight!

Thanks for the comment! Yes, I've confirmed the shape of the pan and it is a TH400. I'll plan on adding pics when I get it to a hoist.

Price dropped to $18,000. If I can't get that then I'll keep it and continue to enjoy the car.
