i had a dream once when my car was bone stock and she ran 163 mph before i let out. she had alittle left in her tach said 4500 rpm and was still pulling. just ran out of road in my dream
I have taken my 93 LT1 A4 to 171 MPH...the mods were a dynomax exhaust, upgraded Cam and 1:6 rods. Gearing was upgraded from 2.54 to 3.08, otherwise she might have reached higher speeds...acceleration is completely meaningless in Germany, its about endurance at a high speed. on my sig pic I am at 154 MPH at 4500 RPM. She held between 165-171 for a good ten minutes before I reached some traffic on Germany's A81, the same autobahn used to test Porsches from the plant at zuffenhausen, which is next to Stuttgart. I reached switzerland from southern Germany in 2 hours
I put the cruise control at 135 and maintained that for about an hour an the A6 to Switzerland. The car is incredibly stable at these speeds, and these were with the GSC's. Nothing like taking on BMW's and Mercedes Benzes as seeing their rev/speed limiter kick in at 150 as I pull away
Can I come?!? I'm jealous as hell! Gotta love the autobahn!!!
Had the 95 at about 140, I think it was 138 to be exact on I-295. Surrounded by sport bikes, trying to keep up with them. Not the best move .... if we passed a cop, we were the ones getting busted not the bikes .... they could outrun the cop!!
In stock form 154 was all she'd pull with miles of straight road. In current form I let off at 168 (which comes WAY faster now) for traffic and it was still clicking them off pretty good.
I've taken the ZR1 to 136 at Pocono raceway. There was still plenty left in the motor, but it was my first time at that track and I didn't want to push it. I'll go back this year again and see what I can wring out.

At 150mph on an American road, I would think that you would be an instant memory, if anything bigger than a paper cup got in front of the car. We once had a couple of guys in a `85 try that on rt13 in my neighborhood in the middle of the night. The driver lost control at over 120mph, & hit a bunch of cars on a used car lot. You coulden`t even tell the thing was a `vette. I`m just a profiler, ( look fast-drive normal), so I don`t think I`ll ever find out how fast my `87 will go.

From what I've been lead to believe, our C4's are suppose to have a top speed of 165 MPH. I'm just curious if any of you have seen such speeds? The fastest I've ever had mine so far is 135 MPH. Have any of you taken your Vette to it's top speed? If so, what speed did you reach?
In my stock 92 A4 I hit 128 mph before I backed off. Wanted to really floor it to see what it could do but was afraid of seeing those flashing red lights.
It was running quite smooth at 128.
I have very briefly seen 150. The car was still pulling plenty hard too, just couldn't justify having the car impounded and spending the rest of my life in jail just to find out. 150 was kinda accidental anyway.
I actually know of a guy who had his friends fly an aircraft in front of the car down the highway to make sure no police were coming or had setup radar -just so he could make a top speed run of his in an exotic sportscar.
I'm lookin' through my archived .pdfs, but there was a Car&Driver or Road&Track that reviewed a bunch of HIPO cars back in 1994, they clocked a 93 or 94 LT1 coupe at 173. Some guys have this as their avatar. When I find the article I will put up a link.
165 MPH in the LT4 racing a Mustang Cobra which wasn't much of a race after 130MPH. The car still seemed to have some left in her. Did it once will never do it again though, the white dashed lines on the road looked solid.
After slowing to about 90MPH (which seemed really slow), the Cobra went blasting by me letting me know I was "Number 1"

The absolute fastest I have gone on my 89 auto L98 Vette was 157 MPH @ 4400 RPMS. I kinda think it would have gone faster. Hey, at least I beat a manual, Porsche Carrera 3.6 when I was doing it. Gotta love that feeling of beating a wannabe exotic sports car LOL.
Ive been to 138mph in my stock 92, I could not believe how smooth it drives at that speed, u can hardly feel going that fast. i often get up to around 105 and not really notice until i glance at the speedometer and back off.
187mph indicated in my modified '96 Z51. My wife was asleep in the passenger seat on our way to Vegas very early in the morning (no traffic.) She woke up and started screaming at me to slow down or we would have done well over 190.
Seen 181 in on a downhill grade on Hiway 305 outside Battle Mountain, Nevada. Fairly stock. The windows were bulging out a bit...just a bit...and making a hell of a noise inside.
Seen 184 one very early morning on a long stretch w/absolutely no traffic. Wife wanted to know how fast we could go. Still had peddle left and accelerating when we ran out of 'safe' road.
I hit 183 in my old 90 with the 383 6spd. Car was still pulling very hard, I was just nearing where I needed to be so I slowed down. Car felt very stable at speed.
