Default 165 MPH C4's

From what I've been lead to believe, our C4's are suppose to have a top speed of 165 MPH. I'm just curious if any of you have seen such speeds? The fastest I've ever had mine so far is 135 MPH. Have any of you taken your Vette to it's top speed? If so, what speed did you reach?

from what I remember from the mags back in the day.

L98 155+ give or take a few depending on year.
LT1 170mph according to motortrend
LT4 175mph
LT5 180+

I could be wrong though.

I know from personal experience that a stock L98 can go at least 158 according to the speedo but that could be wrong due to the drag.

My 86 saw 138 for a short burst. 3.07 with 700R4 that wouldn't stay locked in OD. I'm hoping to see more with the TQ locked and new tires.

I have very briefly seen 150. The car was still pulling plenty hard too, just couldn't justify having the car impounded and spending the rest of my life in jail just to find out. 150 was kinda accidental anyway.

I have taken my 93 LT1 A4 to 171 MPH...the mods were a dynomax exhaust, upgraded Cam and 1:6 rods. Gearing was upgraded from 2.54 to 3.08, otherwise she might have reached higher speeds...acceleration is completely meaningless in Germany, its about endurance at a high speed. on my sig pic I am at 154 MPH at 4500 RPM. She held between 165-171 for a good ten minutes before I reached some traffic on Germany's A81, the same autobahn used to test Porsches from the plant at zuffenhausen, which is next to Stuttgart. I reached switzerland from southern Germany in 2 hours
I put the cruise control at 135 and maintained that for about an hour an the A6 to Switzerland. The car is incredibly stable at these speeds, and these were with the GSC's. Nothing like taking on BMW's and Mercedes Benzes as seeing their rev/speed limiter kick in at 150 as I pull away

LT4 175mph
Car & Driver's test of the Grand Sport in 1996 gave the top speed as 169mph. This was in fifth at redline. It would not pull near that speed in sixth, so they said.

I've reached 163 in my nearly stock '93 LT1 A4. The only mod I have done is an electric waterpump. Of course, once I glanced at the speedo and the tach(very nearly 6 grand) I promptly backed down.

He's the Man!!! I wish we could legally do that somewhere. I'm wondering how, when driving at 154 MPH, he was able to get that picture of his speedo.

Depends on what rear gears but the lt1 vette will for sure run 160 with the 2:59 rear gears. I had the 2:59 rear gears in my 93 2000 rpm at 80
mph. Car and driver had it listed at 163 with the 3:07 rear. So 170 seems reasonable.

5th gear @ 148 mph and it was still pullin pretty good. I d say it would do 160-170 and be all revved out. I take it to 110 pretty often.... its just so much fun gettin there

I hit 135 in my LT-4... but only once. There aren't too many places that can allow for such a speed and I don't feel comfortable doing this on the highway.
