I'm looking to add about 75 horses to my stock 92' Coupe this summer. I've finally gotten all the exterior and interior looking how I like it so now I need a little more giddy up. Only problem is I don't know what would be some of the most reasonable possibilities. I'd prefer not to compromise my gas mileage too much. So what are some ideas and price ranges? My limit is about $3000 for all parts so I guess i'm asking more about what I could do for that kind of money since 75 HP might not be feasible. Thanks in advance.
Im sure the LTx guys can add more detail, but I'll get you started.
Ported LT1 heads, hotcam, and roller rockers will get you there and leave you with money to spare. You can probably squeeze in LT headers too from Exotic Muscle.
How many horses would that give me and what kind of price numbers am I looking at for each? Sorry if i'm nit picky, just trying to get all my research straight. After all, she's my baby. Also, some brand names to go for would be great.
Oh yeah, it's a 6-speed with 76k on it. And I have really good connections to some quality mechanics who owe rent money so i'm alright in that department. Any advice on brand names to use? And how much would the 3.73 gear hurt me in terms of gas mileage?

Not a Big fan of JUICE when it comes to everyday power....JUICE is good for the tracks only.....if you want everyday power...with $3k, heads and cam is the way to go....Unless you really want to hit the button al the time for that extra kick and have to get the bottle refiled all the time and you don't mind that, then yeah go for some JUICE.....But i have driven my friends Honda/Acuras with Nitrous, and its just not worth it for everyday power.....With with ported heads/and a nice cam..you will constantly have that power..without compromising gas too much

while i have no experience with nitrous, i've heard too many stories before.....engine longevity too much at risk. do it the real and manly way with heads/cam package
Send Radpolo96 a message. He is in the process of adding some HP to his LT1 (heads and cam). He can give you specifics on whatever else you need plus give you some before and after dyno results in a few weeks if you can wait.

I am not really sure why head/cam power is better for the street than N20. Power is power. The only draw back to nitrous is needing to open the bottle and refilling it.
Going to a bigger cam and porting the heads, etc. also adds additional stress to your parts - increases cylinder pressure and usually increased RPM ranges. When you are talking about spraying 75-125 HP, there really isn't the concerns that once existed with nitrous. The systems have been really well designed and are very conservative, meaning rich, to drastically minimize lean conditions - so long as you don't deviate from published jetting combos.

IMO, Nitrous is not adding power......its adding the feel of power....temporarily......a 75hp of NOS, while it is allot cheaper then heads/cam, its not adding 75hp to your engine...if your bottle is on Empty, by by power...while with heads/cam, the power will always be there...don;t get me wrong...i'm not a hater of the Juice, its just not practicle for everday power

The neat thing about this sport/hobby is that there is room for every viewpoint.
do yall think the guys in the import forums have these same dillemas? I guess the only diffrence is that they're just hoping for 200 hp not 400.......either way you look at it its 50 horse per cylinder, so maybe they are on to something..hmm ya right.
