i will be pulling my tranny out soon to fix the overdrive and was wondering if anyone might know of a trick or two to make things easier to get it out of my car.i have an 84 with the 4+3.
the last time i put a car on ramps to pull a tranny the car came rolling down on me.that car was a 77 nova with about a mile of ground clearance.think i'll use jack stands instead.

You didn't use 4 ramps. The front two face rearward and the back two face frontward the car can't roll anyway.
The object is to get the car as high as possible without a danger of it falling on you.
When you used 2 ramps on the front you didn't block the rear wheels and set the hand brake.

same here I was crushed by my 88 last summer. Ramps should be outlawed
guess i should refine my question.i was hoping someone new of any safe shortcuts i might use to cut my down time some?i.e. not completely taking out the c-beam,leaving the back half of the exhaust things like that.thanks for any help.
