i was looking at getting a set of the wind deflectors for the mirrors has anyone purchased these? if so how well do they work are they worth the money and effort?
It's been awhile since I installed mine. I had bought a pair that was aftermarket and they were pretty cheap plastic and weren't shaped the same as the original GM part. I later bought OEM factory wind deflectors that fit excellent. I riveted them on just like they should be. I don't have the part numbers. Maybe the aftermarket ones are identical to the OEM ones. Just make sure of what you're getting before ordering from the catalogs. I'm sure they made a difference in the noise department but again it's been awhile. They really make the car look different for the better.

I bought a set from MAM to put on after the car gets painted. Don't have them on yet but I did test-fit them and they look and fit good.
Tape some cardboard to your mirror and a-pillar to see what they will do, that's how I knew I wanted some.
I installed mine 6 months ago (riveted GM plastic deflectors), and I painted them to match the car's color (well I actually painted the entire car ).
I advise you to do the same because :
- the car looks great with them,
- they're quite efficient in reducing the airflow in the cockpit and therefore the noise is reduced too.
- you can drive highspeed with your hat on without loosing it
You will get whistling when the window is up all the way, some guys have put pieces of weatherstrip to fill the gap between the deflector and the window.

well my hopes might have been shot down i would rather have whistling down than whistling up. when my windows are up all i want to hear is the radio how do they look with a piece of weatherstripping stuck to them? if it doesnt look that good i am going to pas on this idea. arent they rather pricey?
I paid $40 I think, with the radio on, you won't hear the whistling.
One thing to watch, mine started to fade after about two years, they are the GM ones.
what are they abs or rubber can they be painted to match to prevent the fading? i just checked at ecklers they are 60.00 each for factory or 20.00 for aftermarket. are they really worth the money or is it a waste?
I've had mine on for over 4 years. They are painted to match and rivited on. I had them painted at the same shop that painted my car -- no fading, still match perfectly. Also, I don't have any whistling -- windows up or down -- and I don't have any felt/weather striping between them and my windows. Personnaly, I think they work and look great

Mine are aftermarket and I did some filing, etc. to make for a better fit. I'd recommend GM just for that reason. However, they work quite well. Big reduction in air coming into the car with the window partially or all the way down. Have never had a whistling problem at all.
I like that cardboard trick Im going to have to do that now and then go for a ride and see the diffrenceill be back with the reslts after a while...stay tuned...
