Here are a few pics. The light on the bottom left blinks now, never used to do that before.

I don't think that's an alarm. Probably just cuts power to the starter until the proper code is entered.

Ok, i took the dash apart and removed the whole mess. Yes, it does cut power to the starter. It also had some wires running to a big horn. Their also seemed to have been a vibration sensitive module that might have tripped this. THe main module also had several small wires that tied into interior lights, which i supposed would trip the alarm also. Here are some pics of the unit. Oh yeah, it appears to be a GM piece, i am guessing dealer installed since zip ties and 2 sided tape were used. Oh yeah, is this worth anything...

It was driving great, but then I started messing around with stuff. There was a toggle switch under the dash, so i flipped it. There is some sort of keypad on the dash, to the right of the radio. It has the #'s 0-9, a # and * button. There is a blinking light at the bottom of this keypad also. After I switched the toggle switch that was under the dash, the car would no longer start. The light on the keypad is also blinking now, it never did that before. So I guess I somehow activated some sort of aftermarket alarm. I bought the car at an auction, so I dont know who the previous owner was to get help. Any ideas on how this thing is wired up? When I try cranking the car, the power to the starter is disabled. The car will not attempt to turn over. I know the tumbler is triggering like it should though because the power antenna starts to go down when I try cranking.

Also, when is the electric fan supposed to kick on? The temps have gotten up to 220 when the car is idling. When moving around in traffic, the temps are around 190-200. I never let it get over 220, I always shut it off before then. WHen I restart the car, the fan usually turns on, brings temps down to somewhere around 205 then shuts off. The temps rise again. Fan never kicks back on though. Is the car supposed to run hotter then 220??!!
I have seen those before, it is a device to stop car jacking. If the car is running and the door is opened you have a certain amount of time to put in a code before the car shuts off. I have no idea how its hooked up but I am sure it will be easy to disable if you follow the wires.

I did not read all of the replies here so I am sorry if this has already been answered.

This sounds like a Prominator Pro chip in the ECM It has an eight position led and switch for loading different bins into the flash memory.

Goto this link and see if this is what you have BEFORE you let some "security expert" pull your Vette's engine computer apart.ProMinator
