The Right Front Fx3 Shock On My 92 Coupe Has Teeth Missing From The Adjustment Gear On Top Of The Shock And The Actuator Still Works, But It Also Has Teeth Missing On The Female Gear . What Is The Best Way To Go With This ?
I Heard You Can Use A Dremmel Tool To Open The Actuator To Replace The Female Gear, And Bilsteen Will "rebuild The Shock & Install A New Gear. There Are No Leaks Visible On The Shocks.
THANKS,
HARRY
Bilstein will go thru the shock and replace the gear. Bilstein does not sell the gear separately and it is not a dealer item. Contact Bilstein at 1-800-537-1085 (Poway, CA near San Diego) to get information on shock rebuilding. Ask for Jack or Bill.
The actuator is not servicable so you will have to buy another one. Look on eBay or in the C4 Parts For Sale section. The actuators are fairly expensive so expect to pay around $200 or more depending if you go with a used or new one. The front actuators are the same so left or or right is not an issue. The rears are not the same as the fronts in that the wire harnesses are differents lengths.
