my 92 starts right up when cold and runs great but when started while the engine is hot it cranks and cranks for about 6 seconds before it starts. and when it finally starts i hear what appears to be detonation for a few seconds and then runs normal. any ideas... ?
Take a fuel pressure reading after the fuel rail has been purged. If you lose fuel pressure immediately, you probably have leaky injectors. Fuel saturated spark plugs don't ignite very well. If the leak is big enough, you run the risk of washing a cylinder. No bueno.
P.S. if it's not fuel injector related, then I would start checking your ignition system/timing.
