Default Anyone Using Eckler's Ramps ?

I did not look before I leaped here. I ordered Eckler's ultra ramps, part no. 35012. Reading the whole ad this morning, they state the ramps only take tire width up to 9.25". My 89R has 275-40ZR17, 10" wide.
Doesn't look like much of a problem, only 3/8" per side.
Only that much probably didn't even need questioned. Am I OK here?

I have been using these same ramps for a few years now. They work great, if you use the right size tire. Their ad specifically states that you should not use these ramps if your tires are larger than 255/45ZR17, which yours are. Your tire is 10" wide and these ramps are made for tires 9.25" wide. So, your tires are 3/4" too wide, not 3/8".

Will your tires work on these ramps? Probably, but I'm not going to guaranty anything. Would I want to take a chance and put my safety in jeopardy? That's a question only you can answer.

You have all the facts. Only you can make an informed decision.

I agree. I was thinking of 3/8" per side on the width, total 3/4".
Weight does not seem to be a problem, 9K lbs. per pair, would equate to 4500 Lb. each corner. It may crimp the sidewall shoulder just a little.
I have a msg. into Ecklers, getting their input, maybe I can stop this order in time, if needed. Ordered on 2/4, coming via UPS, Illinois.

I don't own any of these type ramps, but have just one question for Boatman, or other users of these ramps. Aren't they designed for the tire to "sit in" a depression on the top of the ramp, hence the tire width requirement? If that is so, then your tire will not only not be in the depression, but will also be hanging over the edge a bit.

Might be a dumb question, but the thought crsosed my mind.

Regards,
Bill

Bill, I never thought of that where the tire would rest. If I cannot get the shipment stopped in time, I will just see what happens. If I cannot use, I will use them on other vehicles here. I am going to have 3/8" overlap on each side. They will take the weight with no problem.

I have the ramps, and 11" wide tires on the back, and they sit in the depression just fine. They do hang over a bit, but they don't stay on there long enough to hurt anything.

These ramps are designed for the tires to sit in the ramp's depression. And this is exactly why I wrote what I did at the top of this thread.
