How do I get part #'s

How do I get part #'s
My chevy parts guy has been acting real shady on getting parts #.
For small stuff nuts&bolts items, I usually give him my business, however for larger items where the dealer buys it at wholesale and wants to make me pay 100% more of their cost, I get the part # and go to gmpartsdirect.com
Anyways, Id like to take him out of the loop and get a hold of the software or something they use to look up parts numbers
Does anyone have any ideas as to where I can get this?
My old roomate claimed it was available on CD somewhere for my computer....
Any help would be appreciated.
