I have an 88 convertible. The carpet on the door panel is pulling away from the vinyl part slightly. Not a big deal, but I don't like it. Has anyone had this problem? What type of glue should I use. Should I post a picture?
Though my 35th Anna has black carpet on white vinyl I applied some black RTV to the back of the carpet where the edges were curling up from the vinyl.
I then laid a 2x4 with some wight along the seam and cleaned off any excess RTV. After 24hrs the carpet was securely attached to the vinyl and hasn't shown any tendency to lift again in over 4yrs.

Mine did the same. Have not repaired yet .... looking at replacement panels soon (more than just carpet lifting .... extra holes from PO installation of woodgrain kit).
GM uses 3M carpet adhesive. Spray on the carpet and the door, wait about 1 minute, spread the carpet down and it's on for good. 3M spray adhesive available at any auto parts store. I get mine at Carquest.
Have heard story of dealerships using Hot Glue Guns to replace door liners and carpet after warranty repairs. There are some commercial quality glue guns out there. One from Master Appliance, another from Milwaukee, bith high end and expensive.
Don't go with the glue gun. It is obvious that mine was previously repaired that way. It is a pain to get the hot melt residue off to repair it correctly with the 3M adhesive as per the GM Technical Service bulletin

Both my doors we done with a glue gun....that held just fine till it got cold. Used 3M Super 77 with good success.
