I was installing the short throw linkage on my 84' 4+3 and when i torqued down the 4-3 linkage nut it went into gear. Now its in 3rd gear and reverse and the 4-3 shift is jammed. Tried rocking the car and tuggin the links and its not moving should i grab a bigger hammer or drop the trany for this problem?
i done this to a 79 camaro i had one time and ended up having to unhook all the linkage to get them to disengage. i think that helps relieve some of the pressure

He is right And take your time putting back in it can be a big pain in the A$$ good luck
I've used a hammer to fix that on a 4 speed.... Might need the ford(48oz and up)) hammer...Not really on the ford size...Just tap it into neutral with a small(chevy) hammer
hey i got it. Put the rear wheels on jackstands and wiggled the crap out of the linkage and shifter and got it to free up. Ahh, now do I dust off the box of Poly-graphite bushings or work on the interior and radio......
I see that you live near Kansas. Maybe if you hold onto a small dog, put on a red pair of heeled shoes, click them together, wish real hard and say, "There's no place for that bolt to go so it will fall right out." Say that two or three times and it might work. Well it sort of did that in the movies.
