Earlier this winter I bought 360* LED lights (1157s for the rear and front) and also got some smaller 194s for my side marker and license plate lights.
I ordered the major lights (4 red 1157 for the rear, 2 amber 1157 for the front) from an eBay seller. I believe it was tmiledtechnology. They weren't cheap, but for $120 shipped they also threw in an electronic flasher relay.
They look great, and don't put as much of a drain on the electrical system as incandescents. I LOVE THEM!
For the record, there is NOTHING rice about LED's, provided they are quality assemblies used in factory settings!!!
I also have a set of Hella H.I.D. foglights that I am modifying my foglight buckets to mount. That way, stock appearing C4 bumper but when I need some serious light I'll have HID brightness behind the factory foglight lenses! More to come.
The only thing I haven't figured out yet is to go with Silverstar's or Hella sealed beam conversions (diamond clear housings) for the headlights. Stockers are too yellow!!!
Another useless mod, spend hundreds of dollars and splice into the harness so your lights are brighter. You guys spend your money on l.e.d. lights and stainless grill inserts the rest of us will buy hard parts and in a race you'll be stuck looking at those awful 1157 rear bulbs.
As a professional driver, I guess I need to chime in my .02
I've been messing around with LED's for years. They are in no means something "new". First of all, the aftermarket LED plug in/twist in replacement bulbs aren't worth carrying out of the store. If you are dead set on going the LED route, then just spend the money, and get the all inclusive LED sealed beam lights. They are much more dependable, and won't require any rigging to compensate for the difference in power draw since the microprocessors are built right in to them. I'm sure that Trucklite probably doesn't make an application for Corvettes, but you might want to check with Peterson Lighting Products.
Reputable lighting companies/manufacturers usually warranty their LED products for 10 years or 100,000 hours. Go buy those "store bought" bulbs, and have one of em take a dump on you. Take it back to the store a year or two later, and watch the sales people line up to laugh at you.
i was in pep boys one day and saw those plug in LED tail lights. they were somewhat cheap ( like 6 bbucks a peice i think) so i bought one and put it in next to my other stock bulbs. it was dimmer than the rest when on, blinking and when i swas standing on the brakes. i was extremely disappointed. i returned it the next day. there may be companies online that sell plug in LEDs that work a lot better than this but that left a kind of bad taste in my mouth. im courious how much brighter these actual conversion kits are. i would very much like to see a C4 with this conversion next to a stock C4 tail end and see the difference. otherwise i may just rewire all my tail lights to take a bigger bulbs that puts out more light!
