Well ..got pulled over the other day, was not speeding, the cop wanted to know where my front license plate was.. told him I do not know its never had one..
it appears there is a law in Texas that yo have to have one..they just do not enforce it..
I do not want to take off my bubble and put a plate there..looks not right.
has anyone else mounted a plate on the front of a C4 anywhere else
Thanks
Nah - its a Ruby Red will mess up the look from the front!
Thanks anyway
It looks better without the plate for sure if you mount it underneath the front bumper and the cop wants to be a dick he'll give you a ticket for improper display of front liscense plate. I learned all of this the hard way. Good luck !!
As much as I love Texas, I too was told to put a plate on the front. I am in the military and it is the only state I have been in that has the two plate requirement. The police was just looking for something to do. I drove my car for a year before I was told that.
We have that requirement up here in MN. The best way that I've found to deal with it is to get a vanity plate so it aleast amusing if you have to have it up there. Mine says "CANTLUZ"
I've also seen people get those smoked plastic covers that don't look too bad either.
of course, the ultimate fix is to just move to another state that doesn't have the front plate requirement. We have room in alabama for at least one more Corvette
The cops just wanted to mess with you. I lived in Texas for 22 years and constantly was pulled over by the cops for no front plate. I must have BS'ed my way of about 30 traffic stops because of it.
One time, I was pulled over in a very high traffic spot in College Station, on Texas Ave in the Kroger parking lot, and while the G@Y cop was writing me the ticket, I pointed out every other college student with a sports car had no front plate....he just kept writing and ignored me. What a great guy.
At least the DPS guys are pretty cool about it tho...
I was shocked when I moved to kentucky and didnt they didnt require a front plate, I didnt know what to do !
I too own a ruby, so I know where ya commin from ...
I have been pulled over 3 times inTexas in the last year for no front tag. Knock on wood, no tickets yet. Texas also has laws against any kind of cover or tag frame over either front or rear tag. I had a clear cover over the back tag and was pulled over for that also. Now I run a tag on the rear only and no cover. Most of the cops are cool if you give them the yes sir, no sir thing and you weren't doing something else stupid.
here in the grand( cough cough) commonwealth of Virginia we have front and rear plates also. yes it sucks, so we get vanity plates so it doesn't seem so bad.

Hmmm- I was in the Philadelphia PD, Highway Patrol unit, & I used to get that same from people all the time, usually when I was in the middle of writing the ticket--- " Hey officer! look!, there goes a guy through the stop sign too, how come your just picking on me". My answer was always the same-- " I can only get one violator at a time, & this time I got you". Police officers don`t make the laws, they are paid to enforce them.

Recently in Ohio the legislature had the opportunity to ditch the front plate requirement. Our dufus gov taft killed the bill because one police organization didn't like it despite overwhelming support from the people and many other organizations. Don't hide behind that old carrot "we don't make the laws", that's .
I'll bet my retirement that if a referendum to ditch the front plate were put on every state ballot that requires them, they would all get voted out of existence. The justification for front plates is always given by police organizations as "helpful" in police work. However no data is ever offered and one excuse for having them, recovering stolen vehicles, can be shown to be a wash merely by comparing recovery rates between states that differ.
I think the main reason they are supported largely by the police is that police types by natue tend to be controlling and nosey. Reference the "county" tags many states, including OH require. It's all part of police mentality with a large dose of gutless, self-serving politicians mixed in.
