Hi: I'm located in the Northern, NJ area (Paramus), and was wondering if anyone in the area could recommend a place that can do a complete 4-wheel alignment at a reasonable price. The infamous old "Malcolm Konner", now Paramus Chevrolet, wants $249.99 for the job. I guess the key here is as long as it is done correctly, I don't mind paying for the service. A lot of times, you can find a smaller shop that specializes in Vettes and will charge about half of the dealer price, and sometimes do a better job overall, it's just that I don't know of anyone in my area at the moment.....
$100-150 should be enough for a good alignment at a reputable shop. Find a shop with computerized alignment equipment and youwill get a decent job if the operator has been properly trained. Hang around and watch to insure they check and adjust both front and rear. Some small shops just do a so-called "toe-and-go" where the check the toe angle and leave caster and camber setting alone.
Here's a link to some good alignment specs from Vette Brakes. http://www.vbandp.com/instructions/h...ruct/align.htm
They are not the stock specs so you might want to check to see if a shop will use them and warrant their results. I use the "Advanced Street setting for street and autocross use.
The computer controlled systems will give you a "before and after" printout of your alignment specs. Try a Discount Tire store.
