Well I'm well into my replacement of the carpet in my '89. The ACC carpet works very well. For those of you that have done this I'm curious what you have used to attach/adhere the carpet without the mass backing to the sill piece on each side? I haven't removed the old carpet yet but it look like it was put on with some type of glue or almost contact cement??????
Any direction from someone that has done this would be great.
3m makes a spray contact adhesive. Spray a light coat on each piece and allow 10 minutes to dry. Spray a second light coat and allow it to dry. Then assemble.
I think I have a can of this I picked up from NAPA, I believe it's 3M so I would bet it's the stuff.
Also, how hard is the replacement of the underdash carpet pieces? There was a ton of glue holding those pieces on. I guess the same 3M stuff should do the trick there but as it is hanging it might sag if not done well.
