what is the biggest size tire you can run in the back of a C4 without tubbing the wheel wells? obviously ZR1s can house bigger tires than most. what kind of size are we looking at here?
315/35/17 will fit no problem and will likely stick out past the fender a bit (maybe 1/4"). Some have gone 335, but I think they would stick out a little to far for my taste. BTW, either of those sizes would require a wider wheel.
I've got 315/35ZR17 on a set of re-production chrome ZR1 wheels, (looks awsome) they fit perfect. They don't stick past the fenders either. 1990 by the way.

315s are the biggest that you can run and still fit more or less within the wheelwells. There was a picture of somebody with a 'vert a while back that put 335s and while they looked great from the back they stuck way past the fenders.
I'm running 335's in the rear. You can see a picture in "My Corvette Photos."
I had Budnik make the proper offset for the wheels so the tires wouldn't rub. I'm in the process of sanding and then priming and then painting fender flares because of these monstrous tires.
