I purchased a 96 and I believe it is setup for a "keyless" entry. When I purchased the vette, there was not any remotes that came with the car. How can I be sure the vette is setup for keyless entry? Where can I purchase the remotes? Can I go to the local chevy dealership and purchase them based on my VIN?

Sometimes you can get them on ebay.....the dealer will be over $100
I dropped one of mine and broke the hoop part the key ring goes through went to the dealer to get a new one it was $160 bucks I went ahead and got it but dang thats way to much for these things.

so get ready to pay $160
Mine was broke when I got the car. I'm too frugal to drop $160 on a new one so I drilled a hole thru the broken one.

I think all C4s from 93 on had PKE. When you turn on the ignition, Passive Keyless Enrty should light up on the lower left corner of the Driver Information Center. I got a new fob from Chris at Sup Chev for $99. I got two with the car, but even with new batteries, they didn't work. Follow the instructions to program, it's easy. You may have to hold the eng instrument button down longer than ten seconds to get the PKE light to come on during programming, though. There are several threads in the tech/perf section on this subject.
Does anyone know why the PKE won't program more than one fob at a time? I have two working fobs, but the PKE only recognizes the last one programmed. The owner's manual says up to three fobs can be programmed.

I got one better than that, I just drove my vette to the school's Auto shop to pull the radiator out to clean. KEYS Still in the ignition switch (pulled just enough to keep the buzzer from going off) I walk back to close the overhead door and she locks herself and honks the horn. The fob inside the car on the keyring, the keys in the ignition and I am locked out. What the F*#@ is going on?
Sorry to hijack the thread, but I was wondering if anyone has an idea.
Rock the car back and forth, the fob will "wake up" and unlock the car.
Yeah! The owner's manual says that after 29 seconds of no movement, the fob "goes to sleep", so if you're locked out, rock the car. I tried it for the H of it and it worked.
BTW, does anyone have an answer for my question - only one fob programming at a time?
