I don't have the NCRS Specifications Guide or Judging Manual for the C4s, but you might find your answer in the tech section or in the reference manuals NCRS has for your MY. Can't remember if you need be a member to buy the books or post in Tech section. Here's the link http://www.ncrs.org/store/shop.cgi/p...10159986.10121

I understand its a L98. My question is did this car come stock with a one peice rear main seal in 85 also in 85 did they use aluminum heads. To me the motor doesnt seem to match the car. It is a Vette motor just a newer motor i was wondering if some one could use those number i gave to tell me what I have.

Alumnum heads didn't come on the corvette until mid 1986. '85 should of had cast iron. Don't know about the rear main seal.

Pull the AC compressor bracket off and clean the block pad in front of the right head to get the numbers stamped there. Post them and I'll see if any of my books can ID the engine.

Sounds like someone replaced your original w/an L98. 85's didn't have aluminum heads or 1 piece seal.
