Has anyone attended prior Vette fests in Chicago? This year it is at McCormick Place 3/12 &13. Is it worth attending? I looked in CF "Events" and nothing is listed. Any comments pro or con would be helpful.
Thanks, Sam
I have gone the last 2 years, i agree, pricey, but the vette people there are nice. Then off to hardrock cafe for 2 hambugers and shakes for $35.00 with my son
I've gone to several ChevyFest shows and am going this weekend. It can be pricey when you add in the $14 for parking. I think it's worth while, especially if you need some parts. A lot of vendors attend.
I've been going to Vettefest since mid '80s and when you compare it to what it was like to what it is now, it is dying. A real shame, in fact the owner of the show is looking to sell it so I hope somebody buys it and revives it. Nonetheless it is a good way to spend a day, even now.
We've gone a couple of times from MN, and we enjoyed it.
It always amazes me that you have a bunch of car guys there with money, yet the Vette suppliers don't trailer a bunch of parts to try and sell me something. They bring catalogues (whupdy do) and stickers.
If you want to buy 1:18th scale cars Vettefest is great for that, and used parts...but other than that...
I hate to miss any vette event but I've got to agree, a couple years ago I went and it was pretty lame. Any mid america event is better, even the swap fest or the VW fest I try to hit all the mid america events, they're a lot of fun
McCormick Place is a about a mile or two south of the loop and just south of Soldiers field off of Lake Shore Drive. According to the Tribune it is in the North Hall.
