I havent gone to Helm yet to buy an owners manual but was wondering cause I use it a lot. The ride contol switch, is there any special way when using it, ie: car should be stopped, rolling, etc. I dont want to mis-use it to where it could break something in the suspension. Thanks JTS.
The switch for the FX3 Selective Ride Control can be moved at any time when the car is moving. The change is immediate and you should easily be able to tell the difference between the "Tour" and "Performance" settings.
The FX3 system looks at vehicle speed to make adjustments in addition to the three positions. Corvette Fever ran an article a number of years ago that showed a series of graphs of shock stiffness at different settings and vehicle speeds. IIRC, the "Tour" setting at 100MPH is actually stiffer than the "Performance" setting at 40MPH.
The Helm service manual is a valuable tool for trouble shooting the FX3 system or any other system on the car. Well worth the money if you do your own work but it can also be a big help to your trusted auto repair shop.
Thanks. It works fine, I was just wondering about when you can switch it. Now I know it doesnt matter. The differance is night and day. We went to Daytona for the 500 and went up on "performance" and my wife said she got a headache from the ride. So on the way home I put it on "touring" and it was a whole lot smoother for her.
