Default AC Codes???

(in my 93) On my way to work this morning, I didn't notice anything unusual about my air....but a little while ago, I drove down to the bank, and my AC never blew cold. I come out of the bank, and start the car up, and the green light for the 'auto' button was flashing. The fan works fine, but not blowing cold air.

I searched the forum, and found a thread that was very similar, and had a link the HVAC Diagnostic code translation for 90-96, and how to pull the codes.

But I don't really know what the whole code thing is about, and this link doesn't explain it. From what I can tell...as you scroll through the codes....01......02......03..etc. if you press the center fan button, it will give you the info for that code. If the info it gives you reads '00' then there is no problem with that component. Am I correct in assuming this? And if so, if the info it gives reads anything other than '00' then something is wrong?

I went through all of the codes 01-34 (or 35..whatever) and some of them read '00' but 18 of them had a 2 or 3 digit number showing.
This is what it gave me:

01=64
02=102
03=122
04=82
05=117
06=26
12=155
16=101
17=115
19=130
20=98
21=146
22=108
23=128
24=153
30=173
31=173
34=153

Can anyone tell me what any of this means? and what I should do next?
This is really freaking me out, because in another month or so, it's gonna be getting really hot here, and I already can't roll down my drivers window, so I have to have cold AC!!!

Thanks in advance

Adam

The green light flashing means your Freon is low.

so it seems that there would be a leak somewhere right? I'm guessing I'll have to take it in somewhere to have the freon added? can't do that myself right? But whats to say the freon won't just get low again?

http://www.idavette.net/tech/c4diag.htm

ok, I found this other page with the code translation that made a little more sense.....and looking at it now, I don't think the codes are a problem....just what to do about the freon?

Yes, you need to have your system checked, no sense adding freon if it is just going to leak out...Freon does not go low unless there is a leak.

My advise would be to find an Automotive a/c shop in your area and have them check it out. Should cost about $30.00. If they need to repair something then it will cost a lot more. However, they should be able to tell you if it is a slow leak, and if so add frean to get you through the summer, if the repair bill is going to be more than you can afford right now. Then you will only have to pay for the Frean they add.

If a system fault is detected, the LED indicator above the mode button depressed on the control head will flash for one minute. Diag. trouble codes will then be stored. Trouble codes will only be stored when the fault is present except for Low Freon Code 09.

With the ignition on (no need to start the engine)
to enter diag. mode, push and hold the fan up arrow and fan down arrow at the same time for 5 seconds.

The LCD will show -00.
Press Auto Fan button once. The LCD will show any fault codes stored for Parameter -00

To look at other Paramaters, press the up or down arrows. When you get to the Parameter you want to see, press the Auto Fan button to display the information.

The Codes below are what can be stored for Parameter -00

00 No faults
01 Temp. Door Motor Circuit Fault
02 Temp. Door Motor Circuit Fault
03 Ambient Sensor Open
04 Ambient Sensor Shorted
05 In Vehicle Temp. Sensor Open
06 In Vehicle Temp. Sensor Shorted
07 Solar Load Sensor Open
09 Low Freon Detected
10 Uart Fault

Other Parameter information that can be displayed.

Parameter / Display range

00 System faults
01 Temperature Setting in Degrees 60F-90F
02 In car Temp. Sensor 10= Hot 230=Cold
03 Outside Temp. Sensor 10= Hot 230=Cold
04 Sun Load Sensor Max Light =0 Max Dark 220
05 Ignition System Voltage 0= 9 Volts 255= 16 Volts
06 Engine Speed rpm divided by 25
07 Vehicle speed
09 System Mode00=off 01=Recirculate, 02=AC,
03=Bil-Level, 04=Heater, 06=Defrost,
07=Vent,10=Manual circ.
Auto Mode will display 01--04 depending on set
Temperature
10 Blower Motor Pulse width 0=0 volts 128=14 volts-
11 Program number 0=cold 255=Hot
12 Mix number 255=cold 00=Hot
16 Coolant temp in degrees C
17 Solar correction 114 Max Light 128 Max Dark
24 Temp Door Position 00=full hot 253=full cold
30 Stored full hot value 0-50
31 Temp door travel range 100-200
34 Temp. door position requested 00 Full hot -253=full cold
35 Compressor On time in .1 second increments
36 Numbe of times below critical time
37 Software version number

If you see a minus sign in front of the number in the LCD, add 100 to the value. Example if you see -100 it means the value is really 200.
