Default Bad Accident Today

We had a bad accident today here. Seems a tri-axle dump truck ran a red light and hit a Corvette. The driver of the Corvette was injured, but at this time I don't know how bad. Couldn't tell if it was a C-5 or C-6, but front of it was messed up bad.

A guy came in work and said the Vette driver got out of the car and it just looked like his arm was injured. He said he could barley tell that the wreck was a Vette.
Update, it was on the news. They took him to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. Thats a good thing. It was someone I know from the dragstrip way back when.

Just heard on the news the police said if it would have been a few more inches toward the door the driver probably would have been killed. All I seen on the news was the passenger side and the rear end. I'm sure the drivers side where it was hit was a lot worse.

Now that we know the driver is okay, it's a damn shame that there's one less Vette on the road. I'm sure he'll be in another soon enough.

'Ifs' don't count, the main thing is: He's OK

I hope so. When I knew Randal he was dragracing a C3. Later on I heard he was running a C4 on the salt flats. A real car guy.

Stuff like this always happens to the good guys. You never hear something like, one of the FBI top 10 most wanted getting into an automobile accident (who was not at fault) and getting maimed or killed. It's always the good ones that get injured.

I just wish for once, I'd read or hear about a deadly robber or mass murderer becoming the victim of a road rage incident or something similar that inflicts grave bodily harm to them.

What I wrote is evil, but I'm tired of the good guys always losing and getting hurt when the bad guys walk away unscathed.

I know what you mean... the bad guys always seem to know how to take an innocent out with them. The drunk drive walks away, er, staggers, whilst the young family is all dead.

It ain't fair.

Glad to hear this guy is ok!!!

Glad that the driver is OK, our cars do seem to protect us rather well from what I've seen.

After my car comes out of the repair shop, I intend to do some racing at the track. I've been told that if you have a glass top and you race, and your car is very fast, your glass top can crack from the stress being placed on the car.

Because of this, I installed a rollbar (photo in "My Corvette Photos"), and was told that not only will a rollbar stop my glass from cracking because it stiffens the car to such a degree, but if you are ever involved in an accident, the rollbar can protect you from severe injury and just may save your life.

So, rollbars aren't only for racing, they can be installed simply for that extra protection that you may one day need.

By the way, if anyone's interested, I purchased the rollbar from Autopower. I painted it, cut the car to pieces where the ends get placed and had a friend weld it in. Since I had to rip out a good portion of the carpet to install this, I figured this was a good time to install a new interior. Doesn't it always seem that one thing leads to another?

But the most important thing to remember, is to be as safe as you can possibly be. Sometimes through no fault of your own, you are thrust into situations that make the above statement hard to abide by. I didn't know this person who was injured, but I was happy to read that he was not injured that badly.
