If he's claiming it's the actual car that Chuck Yeager drove at the 86 race, then he's a fraud and should be exposed as such.
I emailed him and asked him why it did not have the Corvette windshield decal like the actual pace car had. He did not answer my question in the e-mail. He said to look at the "Disclaimer" he just added to the auction. It reads:
DISCLAIMER: After a phone call to the original owner it was brought to our attention that this is not the car that actually "paced" the race, however it did sit in many shows and showcases including gas alley. And we do have all of the awards and documents to go with this Pace Vette. We are sorry if this has caused any inconveinence. Because of this we have lowered our reserve price. Thank you.
You would think he would know this BEFORE he advertises it as such. What a goof.. Very misleading.
there is a sucker born every minute and thank god i am not one of them. anyone can "create" valid documents and certificates of authenticity. this car should be removed and started over again.

If it is a very low mile 86 roadster, that alone will drive up the price.
I don't think anyone on this forum would knock a sale price, but when there is too much BS, you gotta say something.
He must have had more than a few e-mails, it's been removed from eBay. I'm sure some have gotten nice cars on eBay, but I would never buy a car sight unseen. I got screwed on a $40 emblem ! Will I still buy parts on eBay ? Of coarse, there's a lot of great N.O.S. parts there, but a car no thanks. The only way I would consider an eBay listing is if it was local and I could view it before committing to purchase it.
This time it is a much better write-up. No claims to be THE car. And now it talks about the 'return of the convertible'.
All in all, it looks good. And since I am the kind of guy that complains about things when they are bad, I feel it's my responsibility to mention when thing are good.
