Not sure about this deal, but a year ago I sent an item US Postal service from Indiana to Florida. It took 12 days. The buyer was very patient. More than I may have been. I was frustrated. The day he contacted me it showed in his mail. Point is, the US mail can be very slow. I really hope this works out.

I bought my '91 sight unseen off of ebay. It was an excellent transaction and I am very happy with the car. Since ebay has a rating system it is easy for a potential buyer to determine if the seller has lived up to his past commitments. I never buy from anyone who doesn't have at least a 99% positive rating.
I like the idea of an escrow account through the forum, but I don't know how such a thing would work. The corvette forum is not a brick-and-mortar establishment. It is just us, interested members, talking with one another. Who would we send the money to? And why should a seller believe that he or she will be paid? What type of legally binding and enforceable arrangement could be set up so that it would work in all 50 states?
This is a great idea if there is some way to make it work. I'd be interested in reading more about such a service through this forum.

MarkinAZ, I believe you are still in good shape here. This of course assumes the seller did in fact mail the parts to you. The reason I say this is because the USPS is often much slower with packages than they are with 1rst class mail. 7 days so far is in no way unusual. Hang in there for a few more days. I hope it all works out for you

The problem I have is that on a $400 item and $50 for UPS with an upgrade from the standard $100 insurance this should have been smooth. UPS gives a receipt showing the shipping and extra insurance charges with the tracking # and most of us email the recipient so they can expect it. There is no way anyone would agree to letting a $400 item loose in the mail system (even with their insurance). $50 was paid to have this item shipped UPS insured, and, the seller rolled the dice and put it in the wind so, he owes $450. Simple as that. Small claims court with proof that you sent the funds with instructions for UPS insured and you will win.

The seller sent me many notes (3) saying he was needing money and making sure I was going to send money. I assured him I would.
And I did.
I received a email from him saying money in hand. He said wife would send tomorrow...OK
I now find out he seemingly has NO receipt and NO insurance was taken. The UPS number he supplys is non-exsistant. I have ALL correspndance between us and, if I do not receive my paid for s**t, will post it if allowed.
If I am wrong about this guy, I will GLADLY say so, apologizing like a mad dog. If I am not wrong, then I am a jerk for sending money to a stranger.
We shall see....
I once pulled out of a deal with someone in this forum. I called him in advance and told him I misunderstood what his item included. I advised him I will send $25.00 for his trouble. This man was a gentleman.

9 days. His wife sent me a receipt, but for some reason, I was unable to see it. Came from yahoo.
The receipt has a "wrong" number on it and we are unable to trace package. Seller states "how does he know I am telling the truth," and "why should HE take a loss?"
Methinx God didn't want me to have NOS on my 91 ragtop. Sadly, instead of just speaking to me out of a burning bush, God decided to charge me $450.00!!!

Thats mail fraud, federal offense. Contact the authorities. Is he a member of this website? If so get in contact with troy, and get his IP address. And roast him.

I learned a long time ago, if shipping USPS be sure to insure it. They will "loose" anything that looks like they want it at their house if there is no way to trace it.

I have ALL correspondance, including having sent him a bank check. At moment, I am giving benifit of doubt. As the receipt he sent has a strange number (untraceable), I am stuck. Seller has stated he is "no crook" and really did send item, and, maybe he did!! He says he is sorry for wife NOT insuring item(s). So am I.
I will hold off a bit....He is a few states away and believes I will take him to Small Claims Court. As I have stated, maybe I was not meant to have NOS.
