anyone in central florida have any recommendations for a paint shop. i need the entire car shot. if you've had a good experience, lemme know where and how much. thanks!!
also, what was the original paint used by GM? Dupont, Shewin Williams? I've called a few shops but forgot to ask that question, but i know someone here will know.
The best in the entire state is at Burke Corvettes behind Roger's. I have never heard a bad thing about them. They aren't cheap (so I've heard) but they do quality work.
From: St. Peters MO Sometimes you have to prove yourself by doing alot of killing or alot of dying...
From what I understand GM used Dupont, but PPG has exact matches as well. From what I've been told, PPG is cheaper and just as high in quality than Dupont... but this is what I was told, I do not know this as fact... just trying to help
State Auto Body in Winter Park has been around a while and does lots of high-end and classic cars. It's on Orange Ave. between Fairbanks and 17-92. I haven't had any personal experience with them, but if I needed paint for the MG or Corvette I would definately stop in for an estimate.
Also, there used to be a place that specialized in Corvette paint & body on Fairbanks just east of I-4, kinda by where Skycraft is. Maybe I'm living in the past..... anyone else remember this place? It could very well be the shop that is now behind Rogers(??) Anyone else remember when Roger's was down by Horatio and didn't any indoor showroom to speak of?? Off to get some Geritol and a nice glass of Metamucil.....

Yep. Corvettes are painted with DuPont.
PPG is about the same price as Dupont. It sprays out nice but doesn't fill as well as Dupont Centari. Now they're all 3 stage Poly Ureathanes.
An exact match? Never seen one. Real close but no exact match.
Red costs the most. An exact match has to take in to consideration the age and care of the old color for a match. Thens theres texture.
A good paint job will start at $2,500 and go to $5000. or $6000.
Materials for a red re-spray will run $500 +.
Before I'd put $2,500 into a paint job for an 85 I'd sell it and buy a later car with good paint.
You can't park a car with a $3,000 paint job anywhere you can't see it.
