Default water problem

I opened my hood to jump my car(left lights on) and the hood lock was full of water and overflowing onto the fusible links and other electronics.

question 1 - Is there a way to drill a hole in the bottom or will that create other problems?

question 2 - Shouldn't the weatherstripping stop this from happening?

Thanks,
All wet in Fl

I'm not sure about the weatherstripping stopping it but MAM sells a kit that consists of two brass fittings and flexible hoses to provide drain paths for each of those latch holders.

The hole that the guide pins sits in on the drivers side is where the water collect, get a drill and drill ONE hole inthe exact bottom of the receiver (the hole that the hood sits on) on the DRIVERS side only and problem will go away. Hole doesnt need to be very big.
