1985 C4 I need input on tires that perform really good in the rain. The car has stock BFG 's on it and is a bear to drive when the roads wet. Also, the front tires have good tread has anyone replaced on 2 tires before? thanks...jim
I am not sure about good rain tires, and if you replace only two tires with rain tires and the other ones are not, that probably will give you some grief.
If you want to just replace two tires with the same type you now have, I suspect most people will probably say not to do it, but when I bought mine, it had dif. tires front/back. Did not seem to make much difference. Just make sure the good tires are up front and the older (worn) ones are on the back. Otherwise, if you really hit the brakes, the back will try and pass the front.
Should be OK for DD, but not hard driving.
Check Tirerack I bought Kumho asx tires from them they are a good all season tire although some say the tread pattern doesn't look agressive enough. I don't care not into looks substance is better. It is better to have a matched set of tires than different tread types and I paid $500 for my set.

Just put them on mine and they handle great, even on wet roads -- and I don't think they look bad
My Kumho ASX tires seem to be very good. Of course I can break them loose in the rain if I really try, but provided I don't do anything stupid they behave very well.
Go to www.tirerack.com webpage and on the main page under "Shop For Tires, click "search your tire size" In the page that opens, select your tire size and in the Performance Categories section, check the top three boxes in the All-Season category and then click on the Proceed to Results button.
The page that opens shows available tires. Click on a brand name to see the information page. Scroll down some to see the numeric values assigned to different traction conditions. You can use your browser back button to look at diffeent tires to compare those traction values. You can alos check some of the Summer Performance types to see what those kinds of tires offer in the wet.
Goodyear GS D3's work great in the rain and dry. Best tire I have seen in the rain. Will suprise you with how well they work.
Driving in a heavy rain I can hear it throwing the water up on the body under the door. I never heard that with GSCs and I drove through some really heavy stuff with the GSCs. The GS D3s really shed water.
i am not a big fan of diff tires on a car. not sure about safety, although i am sure a tire engineer would be better off equiped to tell you that. i just like the same tires all around for better looks... but the b f goodrich kdws g-force are great wet tires. probably a bit noiser than a comparable tire, but i am incredibly satisfied with them.
Just got tires for my '87 in january. Choices for all season tires in my size are few and far between. I got yokohama avid v4s for mine. They've been good so far. Price wasn't bad comparatively speaking either.

If you can afford a more expensive set, Michelin Pilot Sport All-Seasons are, IMO, the best A/S tire money can buy....
That's what I have one my '95. I love them....excellent wear, excellent traction, and if you want something good in the rain you can't go wrong with the Pilot A/S.
Not change the subject but I swore off Michelin's years ago. I can't really comment on the tires here in question but every set of Michelin tires I've ever owned have been the worst pieces of crap.
I drove for Sears for 8 years and had Michelin all season tires on the vans. I was almost killed because of very poor snow performance. I just couldn't stop to save my soul.
Then some years later I bought a Bravada that came with Michelins, I thought maybe they would be better, but no, got a light snow and feared for my life. The very next day I went and got Goodyear Wranglers put on and the snow traction was like comparing a summer tread to an all out snow tire.
I really believe their all season tires are a hazzard to your health.
After all those experiences I just can't bring myself to trust Michelins at all. No matter the reviews.

I chose the same tires last fall, and I've been happy with them. They are not a "race car" tire, but they fare pretty well on the crummy roads we have around here.
Awesome tire! Good wet traction (only been caught in wet roads twice) and very sticky in dry conditions. Big difference off the line. The tread pattern even looks good.
The price cannot be beat!!! I paid $90 installed for each.
