Default My Very First Wave!!

Well, I couldn't resist taking the '92 out for a ride yesterday, and I got my first wave. From a C5 no less! This is my second vette, and I didn't know about the wave until I joined this forum last December. Since then I've been desperately trying to get a wave. Finally, yesterday I got one. I tell you, it made my week! Just another thing to love about these cars.

My girlfriend just doesn't seem to understand the wave. Whenever I wave at a fellow 'vetter she just say "you morons". Its a Corvette thing, she'll never understand

Congrats and welcome to the "brotherhood".

I view the "wave" as one of the perks of Corvette ownership that offsets the "Corvette tax" that comes due at repair time.

BTW, if your GF doesn't "get it"; you will never be able to explain it to her...her loss.

My opinion-get rid of the g/f and another vette. Vette's understand these thing's better.

Truer word were never spoken. Coulda had a C-6, piad for, for what I lost when I got divorced. Still, getting rid of her was worth every penny.

Gotta love the wave.

Yeah, just a great feeling when another Vette waves back.
And some people just don't understand it.

Joined the Navy to ride the waves and ended up marrying one.

I finally explained it to her, and eventually saw a light bulb come on, and now if you see us cruizin down the road in our DRM Vette you'll get two waves poking out above the windshield.

I wave regardless of any vette year. If they don't wave back, oh well, I will keep doing it. I think if we all do, we can push this back into style again.

Congrats on the first wave.

Wave at every vette you see, no matter the year. Back when I was driving the '86 I thought I was a vette enthusiast and spouted stats about the car at the slightest provocation. But now I know the only true enthusiasts are the ones waving!

Default The origin of the wave

I may be telling my age here ..but the wave in the US started with the early sports cars ...they were notorously unreliable (mostly Brit)
and you had to be brave to venture out ..so the wave was begun to recognize fellow adventurers....its a sign of support and recognition for any true sports car lover and his sports car of which the vette certainly is one .....yuppee's and wannabe's no matter what they drive are ignorant of tradition....so ignore em and wave on ...cause we always stopped and helped one another too so if they don't get it ....puck em
