I got my car a little over a month ago and i noticed it doesnt have a key to the lock nuts or a spare tire and carier. where can i get a spare tire and carrier at a reasonable price and how can i get these locks off without the key
ohhhh i just ordered ZR-1 replicas with 275 up front and 315 in the rear is that going to set my speedo off and if it does do they make a power programer that can correct the speedo like the do on my impala ss
I would call Chevy as I believe there is a way the dealer could look up the key number. Let us know how it works out.
Wonder if you can weld a lug nut to the lock...?
Good old Sears sells a set of impact sockets just for removing locks. Ain't cheap and never on sale but will do the trick. Another method I heard of during my mis-spent youth is to hammer a larger, non-impact socket, over the lock until it is tight and then turn it off (much cheaper).
You can try the dealer,I don't think GM kept the records but the dealer might...
The larger socket trick is one that many have used. They also recommend craftsman... once you punch the bolt out my holding the socket in a vice punch out the bolt from the socket you can get the damaged socket replaced by Sears....
Spare tires and carriers are regularly offerred on eBay.

The 315/35 tire diameter is very close to the diameter of the 275/40 so you should not see a big difference in speedo values. The ABS system will not be affected either.
Try vette2vette for a tire carrier and bolt assembly. They are a supportig vendor that deasl in used parts. But the 315/35 tire and wheel will not fit in the factory carrier . Zr-1's and Grand Sports that had the 315 rear tires got a large plastic bag to hold the rear tire in case of a flat. Becase the big rear tires only came on coupes, there was room in the back to hold the tire. Vert's don't have the room (except for the front seat!). So you may be better off to just carry a can of fix-a-flat.
But the spare tire and the carrier was part of the rear collision absorbtion system. The tire deflected collision force downward and toward the differential to help save the gas tank from collision forces. Later C4's that had run-flats as an option got a large H-shaped brace that bolted in place of the tire carrier.

If they're the factory locks most Chevy dealers will have a set of keys for all the GM wheel locks in the parts department. I've walked in and borrowed them for several different GM cars.
by the way does vette 2 vette have a website cause i would like to get the whole spare tire thing squared away soon too
