Does anyone know the correct way to adjust the hood on a C4? When I open mine it pops up pretty hard and then when I go to close it the passager side needs an extra push to close completely. I tried putting more grease on the latch mech, but it still does the same thing.
there is a lot of adjustment in the hood, much easier to show how than to tell how. The metal braces in the door jamb can be moved in/out up/down and is one of the major adjustments.
there used to be a good tech tip writeup on hood, frt bumper adjusting.
i recommend finding a good procedure and figure on spending some time
on it.
if you move one part it will affect another part and on and on.you could chase alginment problems for days if you dont go through the proper steps.
but you might check the hood stops and see if they are snug.if one of them came loose and was way off it can cause closing/opening issues.
I had a similar problem a few months ago. My first step was to see how much space there was between the hood and the rubber bumper stoppers. I placed a small ball of plumbers putty on each bumper one at a time and observed the squish factor when I closed the hood. I then adjusted each bumper up or down until the putty squish was paper thin. Some of the bumpers were as far off as 1/8". I started with the bumpers forward of the front wheels and then moved to the ones by the windshield. In order to loosen the bumper stopper, you need to loosen the bolt on the underside of the mounting bracket. Hope this helps.

There was a recent thread on what height to drop the hood from. You might start there. I believe 12-15" seemed to be optimal.
