I saw it here on the forum but of course can't find it now. Need a website that shows the difference in the C4 targa top mounts. Thanks Guy's & Gal's.

If I remember right, it is 1984 to early 86, late 86 thru 88, and 89 thru 96 for the three different mountings. To change you need to get a "conversion kit", which is usually the metal mounts that attach to the windshield frame, and the plastic cover that goes over everything.

According to Mid America's catalog, the early 86 and under measures 4 9/16" form sunvisor pin to roof panel mounting bolt, late 86 is 2 3/4", it doesn't say anything about the 89 & up. Sorry I can't help with the website.

In a related question, can anyone tell me what I need to do with the
bolts if I plan on driving my car without the targa top for an extended period of time.

By this I mean, do the bolts in the front stay in the car, and if so, do I need to tighten them up, and the same for the back, do they come out with the top, or do I need to tighten them to keep from losing them?

Thanks.

Thanks.
The front bolts stay in the top, the rears CAN be taken out, but just leave the bolts in the thread on the Top. I have no rattles on my car, and I drive with the top 50% of the time in the summer
