Does the side gill have to come off to replace the battery? Looks like it does and what battery would you buy, car is just a weekend driver and as much as I can during the good months.
Yes, remove the side panel(three screws in the wheelwell and one on top of the panel and one directly below at the bottom of the panel(hidden pretty well, you only need to loosen the bolt).
I have a NAPA Exide gel battery, some folks use the Optima, in either case you will probably need to remove the top positive post(which you don't use anyway) also, trim the two little tabs from the battery tray to make them fit.
Whatever you do stay away from AC Delco batteries.
I found that if you remove all the screws but the bottom one first your better off this way your wrench goes in better. I think if you have an old 10mm (I think) grind it down it will fit better. It's a B@##$## to get to. Once your battery is out clean the area well and look at all the wires since getting back to them not easy once your new battery is in.
