There is an 83 vette in the Corvette museum on display. None were actually sold , however, GM did produce a number of 83’s. I can’t remember exactly how many.
'83 production was started and halted, with none being offered for public sale. Production was halted for a few different reasons (always a topic for discussion). Only a few were built (the total number is also always a subject of discussion); all but one has said to have been destroyed. The one remaining is on display in the main enterance to the NCM.
You mean was on display in the main entrance at the NCM. I was there last week, and the 83 is inside the dome. They had a black early year on the rotating display by the main entrance. (55?)
Also, the 83 on display has different rims than the pics here. Ones I've never seen in production.
I think the main reason for no 83's was for the fact that GM could not iron out all of the bugs and they did not want to sell the new C4 if it was not ready.
