I've got 58k on the car and I've done a complete tranny fluid and filter change about 300 miles ago. I've now developed a clunk as I slow down and it goes into first. It upshifts fine and everything seems OK except for stopping. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
I've got the same annoying clunk. Mine has 94K on it, so I'd be interested to hear some of the answers. I had the U joints and mounts checked so far. They are okay...

I am just going on what the mechanic said, so I may be missing a few exact details, but...
There is a soft (realitively) bushing that goes between the splines of the tranny output shaft and the splines of the drive shaft yoke. It is there to be a sacrificial piece to keep either of those two parts from wearing. When it startes to ware out, it will cause a clunk feeling as the drive shaft slightly wobbles. I had mine replaced ( I forget how much it was, but it was realitively cheap) and the clunk went away.
BTW, if this IS your problem, make sure you fix it before you ware out the rear tranny oil seal. It is being deformed each time the drive shaft wobles.
