Yesterday I was srewing around with my exhaust again as I was BBQing and didn't really better the situation. So as I was lying there under the car I look around and decide it's time to take off the cb antena mount. Who'da thunk just removing something could cause a welling up of pride (I figure 2 pounds is like 2 rwhp right? ). So I decide to pop the hood and check everything out and as I do it I realize that the door squeaks; I whip out my handy can of 3-in-1 and attack that squeaky door, it was kinda hard to get to so I switched up to WD-40. No problem, not a sound. I decide to check on the passenger dor as I remember it did something similar. I open the door and hear a slight 'pop'. Upon further inspection I notice a gear like nut that turns about the big S. The gear wasn't turning but was jumping the S. So I attacked that with the WD-40 also and now it's problem free. Again I had a major sense of accomplishment hit me. I've been looking for a hobby to keep me busy for a while and I think I've got it now.

Now a little technical question:
I was looking at the distance between the doors and the hood. It seems the passenger door has a wider gap. When I was loking at the hinges I noticed that they aren't the same. Are the doors supposed to be mirror images of one another? My first guess is no and that he replaced a door with one off his '84. Any thoughts?

Also, what's the smallest thing you've done to your car (other than a wash and wax) that instills pride?

The smallest I have done is replace the rubber bumpers on the fuel lid door. One was missing so I got new ones from Corvette Central and now it is just like new! No one else would ever notice but me.

Mine was in the shop last week to have the hood and the rear bumper cover painted. I took all the rear lights out myself to clean them and because I thought it would be fun. While out, I noticed that the taillight housing (the silver part), was quite dull and faded, and the silver paint sort of faded to black at the edges, etc. I cleaned, re-painted silver and cleared the inside of the tailight housing. No one will ever see it (not even ME) unless the lights are taken apart, but man did I ever feel good about doing it, and it turned out great. Plus, the talilights and brakes should eb a little brighter now with the reflection off the new shinier finish.

I also cleaned and polished the underside of the fuel door assembly after I bought it... Luckily for me, unlike corvetteronw, I still had all 4 rubber bumpers

Don't get started on the body gaps, it's never ending. I wish I never started. If you make any changes to one, several others need adjusted then also.

The door hinges are the same on the left and right they just flip flop them.

Easy enough answer for me - two days ago I painted the rust on my rotors black. I have aftermarket rims with enough space to do it without having to remove the wheels. It completely changed the rotors from an eye sore to a perfect compliment for my 17"s. All you see now is rim:

Now that little something is making a Giant statement in my book. Nice job, nice accent, and nice rims.
