I bought my Vette brand new and drove it only on good days for about 5 years. Then I got tired of switching out cars during winters that I virtually forgot about it. Fast forward to today, I just got it fully restored to move to Florida w/only 19,000 orig miles. I eventually have to swap out the original tires because of flat spots but my mechanic said ride it out. I was also thinking of buying a set of American Racing rims, black matte spokes, since the car is white.

Any thoughts on what I could get if I decided to sell ? Probably won't sell but I am looking at the new 2007 Shelby. After my mechanic tuned up the engine and replaced fluids, this car runs as if I just took it off the lot. The interior even still smells like new. I'm even afraid to drive this thing anymore for fear of getting into an accident or remembering those 180 deg spinouts from wet pavement.

for cars in that shape check www.nada.com

it'll give you an idea of what you should get.
I believe they list the price for an '85 in your condition at around $15K

I just paid $10K for my 85 with 35K miles on it. I have seen some sell for higher with higher miles in this area. I am sure you could get more.

A set of new tires will fix this problem........especially since you are are talking 1985 rubber that is now 20 years old...Goodyears back then were good for about 5 years max and then the rubber become so hard you couldn't get traction wet or DRY....

Buy tires and enjoy your car!!!!!!

BTW Your mechanic gave really bad advice considering the rubber, maybe ok for the flat spot problem.....

I eventually have to swap out the original tires because of flat spots but my mechanic said ride it out.

I would NOT drive that car with the original tires. You're asking for big trouble. I'd estimate if you get the right buyer, you could get $13-$16K.
