Default rear window struts

Help, I bought new window struts and found out removal was not as simple as I had envisioned; before I bend, pry, or break the glass has anyone done this install?

Are you sure? Mine took all of 5 minutes, screw in the bottom and snap top onto window ball thingy.

There is a clip on each shock that is pried off. Be careful not to damage the glass. Once the clip is off, you can just pry it off (carefully).

Good luck,

As mentioned, there is a metal clip at each end of the strut. You can actually slip a small screwdriver or pick under it and lift it off the end of the strut. Once you get it partially off the end of the strut you should be able to lift it off the ball. Dont' try pulling it off or twisting it off using leverage without using a tool to pry on the clip, you might break something.

Not all of them have a clip but a button you push
to release a tab that holds them in. Look carefully.
It should come out easy, dont force it.

My 85 had the old sprung tab style but was replaced
with the kind that use the c clip..

As mentioned above some even allow you to
unscrew the mounts too.. good luck

Just did mine a month ago, took about 10 minutes -- just lift the metal tab and the strut should lift right off the ball -- no prying needed
