What brand and model number battery tender or trickle charger do you guys recommend? I drive very little in the Winter and about three days a week during Spring through Fall. I just replaced a Sears Diehard gold that I installed two years ago that was stone dead. Thanks for any help.

Make sure you dont get just a trickle charger as they dont shut down when the battery is charged.......Read instructions it will explain how it kicks off and then back on when volts reach a certain level....
2Years and counting on my $7 Harbor Freight float charge...
Car strarted last week on first crank.... i mean it was a nano-second. the battery was 100%.
Harbor freight specializes in imports from China.
Torque wrenches for $12, winches that are copies of Warn for $59.
they have incredibles values. try them! you'll be happy you did.
The battery charger/maintainer by Schumacker (spl?) is fully automatic with the battery "float mode" and comes with the alligator clips and the permanant mount for easy hook up. At Walmart for under $20. I've had it going for two years, and, my 87 starts as soon as I hit the key when it has been hooked up.

Torque wrench for $12.00? A Warn winch (ripoff) for $59.00?
Ever use a $12.00 torque wrench? A $5.00 set of impact sockets?
The Chinese are hacks!
I had a Schumacher brand trickle charger and it was cr@p. I paid good money for it, at least $30.00. It just fell apart after little use, so I took a chance and purchased a $16.00 unit from Wal-Mart well over 2 years ago. I expected it to live a short life, but it's in excellent shape and works extremely well. It has the self-contained on/off feature that only charges the battery when needed. I put it on the car in November and take it off in April....no problems. A good purchase.
I've had my Battery Tender Jr. for the last 4 years and my 81 starts up every spring with no problems. Got mine thru Eastwood.
Yep, Battery Tender is the only way to go. My 91 Coupe sleeps in the winter, but when it's a nice day out, I put the key in and she starts right up strong.

Click the link in the upper left corner. http://www.azmotorsports.com/. I have two of the JR.'s and one regular Battery Tender. Been using the JR.'s for sveral years. Best deal going for $19.95.
Arkvette,
I was in the local store on sunday. Itis definitely the same item ( same stock number) as the one on-line for $14.99 Don't know the reason for the sifferenc ein the store price versus the on-line price.
Redwing76,
I used the harbor freight $12 torque wrench next to my brother's snap-on. they are both calibrated to give the same results I checked 25,50 and 100 foot-lbs, they both "broke" at the same ft-lbs. It may not last as long , but I'm not a professional mechanic and it works for my needs.
It comes with a lifetime guarantee, from Harbor Freight. I keep the receipt and guarantee inside the molded case it came with....
