Look at the louver rim and you'll see an indentation at the top and one at the bottom. Set the louver in against the taillight lens, set the louvers horizontal, and push the top plastic clip in. It fits between the rim of the louver and the bezel. You may have to work at it to get it in. After the top one is seated, insert the bottom clip. The edge of the clip should seat in the prior mentioned indentations. Been there, done that. They really don't look that bad.
The sharp edge of the "clip" fits in between the taillight lens and the moulding (?). Just push it in. They're just as easy to remove if you don't like 'em.
I have the round tail lights that use the clips but I think I like the idea of a bit of clear silicone to hold them,
I love some of the cheesy as I called them one hour custom items,
