That is the famed prototype 2008 Camaro that is based on the GTO's Zeta platform. Last I heard the project got scrapped so they can invest more money into the Cobalt SS.
What's the WTF about? Those pics have been around the net for a while. Many claim they are a concept for the re-release of the Camaro. I've heard that the images are, in fact, not at all affiliated with GM. Rather, they were a student design project (by someone who is nonetheless *very* talented), and they've since been spread around the net like the plague.
I can tell you both the Firebird and the Camaro are comming back. I recently got to see images of the two cars when I worked for a company contracted to produce some of the body parts. The Firebird is stretched and futuristic looking, the Camaro is a little shorter and retro looking. The Camaro does not look like this pic but very close. If the final product looks even close to what I have seen they will be very cool indeed.

My understanding is that the gto is the australian based car, if this is correct the camaro "should" be different..... just what Ive heard around town from the gm guys......nice looking ride though
I believe that is one of Chris Horton's drawings. His work has been published a number of times in Popular Hotrodding mag. According to the last issue, I believe he took a job with a company that makes toy cars.

You would be correct that the GTO is basically the Holden Monaro. The chassis design is called Zeta (sp?). From what I've understood, this chassis was also to be used for the new F-bodies. All of this was found on the internet so my sources could be unrelieable.

I really think I like this one... hope they make it.
but since the General is a day late and far too short with the 'retro' Camaro, it looks too much like a direct copy solution to the new Mustang.
I've heard it was also scrapped due to licensing rights or something similar. Should have just left well enough alone when they made them in Van nuys. Greedy bastiges. I can say one thing-If they do make it and do it right, I'll sell/borrow whatever I have to to get one. Still have a soft spot for those Camaros, and a new Z06 is way out of reach. Hope they don't make it in China

TA ,you do your home work!!! thats the buzz from guys I know workin on some of the projects (radar cruise testing etc.) the same guys told me about the solstace (spel.) being out this year instead of the projected date also tell me the camaro in 06.....who knows... but I agree it is going to appear like a catch up effort to the ford. The bod ,if thats it looks good but I would be more interested in the rest of the package (frame, susp. motor ,etc.) American Heavy Metal??
