Summer Time Repairs
So it looks like I'll be getting a job for the summer. I plan on sinking some money into the vette, if all goes well. How much should it cost to have the flexplate replaced on my '87? I went to rockauto and saw that they have flexplates for about $50. Any recommendations on a specific brand? I don't think I'd be able to find someone help me do the replacement, so a shop is just about the only option. I just need some ballpark figures. Thanks guys!
While you're in there you might as well put a converter in too.
Figure about 6 hours of labor maybe a little more. I don't have a flag hour book, I'm just making a WAG at what a book would allot for this. So this will be an expensive repair.
What's wrong with your flexplate that you need to replace it?

I was quoted at $450 bucks today... but they said they couldn't do it because it would take "7.3 hours" and they are always soo busy doing smaller jobs (wtf? was what I was thinking) They'd pass on this job so they can oil changes, alignments, towing, etc. They sent me to someone who doesn't even have a lift to do the job and referred me back to them, lol.
Anywho (sp). Would I be better off looking for a tranny shop instead of a repair shop in general? (BTW the going rate for service is $60/hr. here, which rocks compared to $90 in Sacramento!)
Man, I cannot belive that they would pass on that job. My job has been very slow this year and I would click my heels to do a job like that for that kind of money! A tranny shop may very well be interested if not too busy. God luck either way.

Well if you're planning on going on vacation, I can pick you up from the airport myself! lol. Then we'd still need to find something to get it off the ground.
